Name: Sasuke Uchiha
Canon: Naruto
Canon Point: Chapter 691 end, right before he does the dumb and makes Naruto come chase him.
Age: 17

Spoken language(s): Whatever is spoken in Naruto-land (he writes in Japanese, so I default to that)
Username: inshadow
To the Mods: Nothing to note here.

History: You have no idea how happy I am not to have to write this out!
Personality: Sasuke is the epitome of what happens when you withhold information and affection, and allow someone to spend their life crawling in the dark when you could have offered a light and a helping hand in finding their way out. While he may have started out as a cute little kid seeking his father's praise, chasing happily after his big brother, and wanting to become a ninja worthy of his clan's name, it's certainly not where he ended up.

Intelligent, quick to learn, and incredibly goal-oriented, Sasuke has a hard time being a team player, and while he's able to work with others (and quite well at that), he's not very good at keeping his own personal biases out. Around those who are stronger than him, Sasuke will get self-conscious and obsessive, comparing and ultimately attempting to push himself to surpass them. Those he views as weaker are given the brush off and tolerated so long as they don't get in the way. Because of those biases, he will do whatever he needs to in order to get what he's after, even if it means disposing of that 'stronger' person once he feels he's surpassed them. There may not be an "I" in 'team', but if you twist things around properly, there is a "me", and he can be very self-centered when he wants to be.

Sasuke is the sort who is willing to sacrifice his own future for the sake of clinging to the past, and does not handle loss very well. Like, at all. But instead of dealing with it in a healthy manner, he's the type to internalize that pain and let it fester and grow until it explodes in such a way that he's willing to do whatever it takes to rectify it. Had it not been his immediate family that was slaughtered, he may have been able to get past it after a while. It would've hurt, but they'd have been there for him, so to have all of that yanked out from beneath him in the span of a few hours... it left him with a major void in his world that not only couldn't he fix, but that nobody else bothered to try and help with. Even after we learn that the Third Hokage had agreed to watch over him after the massacre, he was still a child left to fend for himself, devoid of the warmth that comes from having someone to turn to when things got to be too tough. In fact, he goes so far as to describe himself (and Naruto) by saying "We were alone and starved of love. Kids that lived in a world full of hate".

And boy, was there hate.

For Sasuke, the biggest motivator throughout his short life has been that of hatred-fueled revenge. First, it was revenge on his brother for the massacre of his family and clan. After that, it was revenge on Konoha for their hand in his brother's actions. Finally, it was 'revenge' on the very world they lived in, with his desire to become the Hokage and start a revolution on their way of life itself. This vengeance, however, is and always has been caused by love. While this sounds strange given that Sasuke claimed they were love-starved, the Second Hokage states that the Uchiha clan itself is one that prized love and friendship over everything, though they concealed those affections and didn't outwardly display them... and once the object of those affections is yanked away, those emotions very rapidly warp into hatred -that trait of emotional swap is where the Sharingan comes from, as it takes a strong emotional connection to activate it and a strong emotional loss to bring about the Mangekyo. Love for his family made him hate his brother enough that he threw away everything he had going for him and sought the power to exact revenge for his family. Love for his brother made him hate Konoha enough that he was willing to join forces with (and use) the enemy to crush the village for what they did to Itachi. Love for Konoha made him hate the societal structure they lived in, which created rifts between clans and caused the wars which destroyed countless lives. And Sasuke, much like those before him, fell into the Uchiha trap of loving someone/something so much that those feelings became twisted and subverted into something cold and cruel.

This is not to say that the process can't be reversed, as he's proven that he's incapable of completely severing ties and casting aside the desire to forge some sort of connection with others no matter how hard he tries to do so. First with Team 7, where the familiar feelings of family and his initial bonds forged between friends very nearly had him stepping away from the avenger's path, and again later with Hebi/Taka, where the quartet of outcasts came together into a whole that was far stronger than the sum of its parts, Sasuke wound up unintentionally reconstructing that connection he'd lost with death of his family. And while each time, he backpedaled and threw it away as soon as he decided that he either didn't want them around or that they were useless to him, he still sought it out. His return to willingly assist Team 7 during the war, and the acceptance shown toward him by his former teammates, shows that even though he might have a long road ahead of him, he's not entirely beyond redemption, even if his goal lies a little left of the mark.

That goal is to revolutionize the world and do away with the current system which only seeks to breed malice and destruction. While it may seem like a noble idea at first glance, he firmly believes that in order to do that, one person must take on all of the hatred of the people, by accepting their pain and their suffering, by carrying out the deeds that nobody else should ever have to do, such as taking the life of another. This person is what he envisions a "Hokage" to be... and if he has it his way, the one to become "Hokage" will be himself.

Looking at those who influenced his life and helped shape his personality, it's not entirely strange that he ended up the way he did. The people were many, the influences they had were varied, and the impact they made melded from one into the next, creating something that nobody could have imagined, but there are three that stand out among the rest as having left the biggest footprint in his life. Not even Orochimaru, who Sasuke ran to in search of power, could compare to them, as Sasuke merely used him to get what he wanted then cast him aside when there was nothing more to be gained. Those three are his teammates, Sakura Haruno and Naruto Uzumaki, and his older brother, Itachi.

The only female in the team, Sakura was one of many girls who he found to be annoying and obnoxious, having a major crush on him to the point she was willing to end a friendship over it, making the other girl her rival. As she was more studious than skilled, Sasuke really didn't pay her much attention at first. She was there, just another face in the crowd, and that was about it. When they were put on the same team and made to spend a lot of time with one another, her crush eventually turned to love... which never faded away, no matter how hard he would try to push her away later. Over time, as he began to open up a bit more thanks to the bonds being forged between teammates, she became someone he wanted to protect, and her sharp mind gave her a place of distinction as she went from an annoyance to a useful ally. Granted, after his run-in with Itachi in Konoha that left him broken and battered, he once again threw both her and the bond they'd built aside in favor of leaving the village and stepping back on his path of vengeance... even to the point of making an attempt on her life. He's never been able to completely sever the tie with her because she refused to allow it, and when he later showed up in Konoha to fight alongside them after speaking with the resurrected Hokages, he was willing to put the past aside in favor of fighting a common enemy.

As for Naruto Uzumaki, the boy who would ultimately become his best friend and strongest bond that wasn't a blood relation, Sasuke originally took comfort in the fact that they were both alone, but that quickly went sour as the two of them developed an antagonistic relationship toward one another. Sasuke was the smart one, the genius, at the top of the class... while Naruto was the idiot, the joker, and dead last. He'd initially blown Naruto off, getting annoyed with him for constantly trying to get in his face, and even after being put on Team 7 with him, they were still oil and water. It wasn't until learning to climb trees while on a mission to the Land of Waves that they began to grow a little closer to one another, using each other as a springboard to push themselves harder and farther than they were able to get before and strengthening both themselves and one another at the same time. Unfortunately, Naruto's growth rate left Sasuke incredibly jealous and with a feeling of inferiority as he felt that he was stagnating while Naruto was passing him up, and when he finally left Konoha, he was just as determined to rise above him as he was determined to kill his brother. Every encounter they had after that moment was met with curt words, attempts on Naruto's life, and a deadlock, as Naruto was intent on bringing Sasuke back while Sasuke was intent on staying gone. By the time he joins up with them of his own choosing during the war, neither one is stronger or weaker than the other -they're equals that work well together with techniques that compliment one another, and while they both know there will have to be a definitive battle between them, they were willing to temporarily set aside their differences for the sake of those depending on them. Even Sasuke states multiple times that Naruto is his best friend, and because of that bond, Naruto is adamant about bringing Sasuke home -because Sasuke is the closest thing Naruto has ever had to a brother.

And speaking of brothers... the third, and strongest, influence in his life is that of his own brother, Itachi Uchiha. Of all of the relationships he's had with others, even his own teammates, Itachi is the only name that can be mentioned in passing and elicit a reaction from him (though that reaction depends upon what point in time we're referring to). As a child, Sasuke absolutely adored his big brother, and up until the night of the Uchiha massacre, there was never a time where Sasuke wasn't trailing after him and wanting to spend time with him. He loved his brother more than anything, and when he was confronted by the image of his parents' lifeless bodies and his brother standing over them after killing them, it was as if his heart just shattered, taking with it everything he knew and cared about.

This is where the happy, smiling child died, leaving behind an empty shell that slowly began to fill again as the love he'd once held for Itachi festered and twisted itself into unbridled hatred. At barely 10 years old, Sasuke was already set on getting stronger so that he could find his brother and kill him, exacting revenge for what had been taken from him. He was even willing to seek out Orochimaru in order to gain power, sacrificing his life in the village with friends in favor of chasing after Itachi, and choosing hatred over happiness. When they finally clashed, Sasuke was excited that his goal was finally coming to fruition... only to wind up confused after Itachi's death when he learned that everything he knew was wrong. He didn't want to hear it, didn't want to think he'd been manipulated or that he'd made a mistake -he had literally blocked out every memory of Itachi as a loving older brother, so remembering anything other than the hate he felt had him breaking down and hyperventilating over it. The little brother he was clashed with the avenger he became, changing his target from Itachi to Konoha to society as a whole, all because of what he learned from both Obito and Itachi himself: Every little thing Itachi had done, even if his actions had not been kind, had been done out of love.

When Itachi had killed their family, spared Sasuke, and fled the village, what he was trying to do was protect his brother from those who would mean him harm while at the same time ensuring that he would be able to atone for his actions at the hands of the only person Itachi wanted to have kill him: Sasuke himself. When Itachi had shown up in the village later, he wasn't there to kill anybody and really didn't try very hard to capture his "target", but was actually sending a non-verbal message to the higher ups in the village -both a threat and a promise should any harm befall his brother. When Itachi finally collapsed and died after poking his little brother in the forehead just like old times, telling him "I'm sorry, Sasuke... there won't be a next time", what he was actually doing was giving Sasuke what he hoped was the means to defend himself against any enemy that may come his way. When Itachi approached Sasuke after they stopped Kabuto and released the jutsu that bound his spirit to a resurrected form, what he intended to do was show him the truth via his own memories, leaving Sasuke with no more questions as to what had happened that night and what his intentions had been... and reassuring him that "No matter what you decide to do from now on, I will love you forever".

Itachi's memories, how he had shouldered so much hardship and pain, knowing full well that someone would hate him for his decisions but not caring because it was what he chose, were what shaped Sasuke's views of what a Hokage should be. Sasuke abandoned his hate in favor of love, once again throwing away the present for the past, and sought to make the future one that Itachi would have been proud of -a world where his brother's sacrifices would not be rendered meaningless.

So much of everything Sasuke was, is, and intends to become is centered around Itachi. This doesn't mean he's without a few of his own quirks, though. Having long since dropped using honorifics such as '-san', '-chan', '-kun', etc, Sasuke speech pattern comes across as rather rude, and he's often prone insulting others. His favorite foods are tomatoes and rice balls filled with dried tuna, whereas sweets fall into the immediate category of 'dislike'. Generally ambidextrous, he chose his left when asked which hand was his dominant -the left is the one he uses when throwing punches or using Chidori, but things such as holding chopsticks, writing, archery, and wielding his sword are done with his right. He's also fairly easily emotionally swayed, but only so long as one appeals to that side of him. If he has any reason to believe he's being spun, all attempts to bring him around to one side or another become null and void.

Abilities/Skills: This seems like serious overkill. I'm listing it, though... and a large chunk of it will never see use (such as animal summons and pretty much all of the Paths), but at least it's been documented?

Taijutsu: Your standard hand-to-hand combat skills, as well as the speed with which to execute them. While Sasuke is pretty good, he's no taijutsu master, and he only really uses it when he intends to follow it up with something bigger or as a last ditch effort when he's running on empty. The one thing he excels at with taijutsu is speed and reaction time, which is a necessary thing due to his bloodline limit (which will be mentioned further below), making him on par with some of the faster characters in the series.
Ninjutsu: This can be broken into both techniques and weaponry skills. In terms of weaponry, he's incredibly skilled with kunai and shuriken (thrown both freehand and on wires), which are the standard ninja fare, as well as the much larger and multi-bladed Fuma Shuriken. He's also capable of using swords, and (prior to his canon point) carried a chokuto at his back, tucked into the rope at his waist. One other weapon that he's shown some skill in, though he rarely uses it himself, is the bow/arrow, touting himself in flashback as a decent archer.

In technique, Ninjutsu refers to the ability to make use of the different techniques by moulding and manipulating one's chakra (basically stamina, which is a combination of physical and spiritual energy) and performing the proper hand seals. It can be further broken down into 5 different elemental transformations, and everyone has an affinity for a particular type, with some having multiples. This is where Sasuke shines. He was born with an affinity for Fire type, as the Uchiha clan had an innate lean toward it, also possesses an affinity for Lightning. In addition to those, he's capable of using the other three basic elements as well, but not to the extent that he can those he's attuned to.
Fire Release
  • Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique - the user breathes fire along a cord, wire, or even a line of enemies creating a straight line of flames.
  • Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique - a concentrated burst of chakra is moulded into the shape of a dragon-headed fireball, capable of creating high atmospheric changes due to its temperature and resulting in thunder clouds. (This technique is usually used as a precursor to Sasuke's Lightning technique, Kirin.)
  • Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique - a favorite among the Uchiha, used as a 'coming of age' rite of passage. This attack can take the form of either a continuous flamethrower or a massive fireball and is created by drawing chakra to the mouth, converting it into fire, and blowing.
  • Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Technique - a volley of small fireballs that the user can control by manipulating their chakra, typically used as a diversionary attack. It's also possible to conceal shuriken within the flames for a double attack or a backup should the flames be extinguished.

Lightning Release

  • Chidori - a straight jab backed up by channeling enough chakra to the user's hand that it becomes visible to the naked eye, using shape manipulation to create lightning, and lunging at a target. Because one is never enough, Sasuke has three separate variations on this technique utilizing shape manipulation.
    • Chidori Current - both an attack and defense, it can be channeled through the ground for an increased range or used to damage and paralyze a target by essentially electrocuting them. Sasuke is Pikachu.
    • Chidori Senbon - an attack that is physically thrown and takes the shape of a multitude of senbon (needles)
    • Chidori Sharp Spear - the chakra is formed into a spear or blade that can extend up to 5 meters in length and can be altered after the target is pierced to change shape and cause more damage.
  • Kirin - a massive, chakra-controlled lightning strike, combining both chakra and natural lightning into one.

Dojutsu - (eye techniques)

  • Sharingan - The Sharingan is specific to the Uchiha clan as a Bloodline Limit, which means it's an inherited technique and not one that can be learned by others. It grants the user an "Eye of Insight" and an "Eye of Hypnosis"
  • Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan - Same as basic Sharingan, only the eyes of an Eternal Mangekyo user are not their own. The original Mangekyo will eventually cause the user to go blind, so by swapping eyes with another Mangekyo user, they gain an Eternal Mangekyo that will never experience blindness. Eyeballs are like trading cards to the Uchiha, and Sasuke's eyes are actually Itachi's.
    • Amaterasu - creates inextinguishable black flames that can burn for 7 days and 7 nights.
      • Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi - shape manipulation of Amaterasu's flames.
        • Scorch Release: Halo Hurricane Jet Black Arrow Style Zero - the combination of Kagutsuchi and Naruto's Rasenshuriken.
      • Blaze Release: Susanoo Kagutsuchi - shape manipulation of Amaterasu's flames applied to Susanoo's weapons
      • Blaze Release: Yasaka Magatama - creation of a multitude of magatama (tomoe) projectiles created by an orb of Amaterasu's flames held by Susanoo
      • Shield of Black Flames - an amalgamation of Susanoo and Amaterasu in which the ribs of Susanoo are enveloped in Amaterasu's flames for added protection from outside attack.
    • Tsukuyomi - a genjutsu that requires eye contact to establish and traps the target in an illusionary world controlled by the user.
    • Susanoo - creates a massive human-shaped form around the user which can be used for both offense and defense. It can also be used as an armor for the Nine Tails.

  • Rinnegan
    • Six Paths Technique
      • Deva Path - gravitational technique that manipulates attractive and repulsive forces.
        • Chibaku Tensei - the creation of a satellite by creating (or substituting) a gravitational core that pulls matter toward itself to create a spherical shape
      • Asura Path - physical augmentation of the body by summoning mechanical armor, ballistics, and mechanized weaponry, allowing for up to 4 more arms and 2 extra faces, making the user look kind of ridiculous, but apparently pretty strong
      • Animal Path - summons various animals and creatures that are essentially immortal as they can be re-summoned, and uses no seals or sacrifice of blood.
      • Human Path - the ability to read the minds of ones targets through physical contact by pulling the soul from the body... and inevitably killing said target.
      • Preta Path - absorbs chakra from ninjutsu-based attacks and cancelling them out. It can also be used as a barrier to absorb from all directions, and through physical contact with an individual.
      • Naraka Path - restoration and interrogation via the King of Hell.
      • Outer Path - transfers chakra to special receivers implanted in the body, manifests chains of chakra that attach to and bind any who touch the receivers, and revives the dead in exchange for the user's own life.
    • Amenotejikara - shifts the location of people and objects within a specific range, which can be increased if one of the transferred objects is himself. Sasuke has to stop and recharge his batteries after continuous use, and during recharge, cannot be used.

Summoning Techniques
  • Animal - a space/time technique that requires a contract with the intended species, after which a small blood sacrifice and hand seals can summon animals of varying size and strength in direct relation to how much chakra is used.
    • Snakes - a fairly obedient species, though some can be quite demanding (ie. demanding sacrifices in exchange for aid)
    • Hawks - typically used for transportation; Sasuke's personal summon is the massive hawk, Garuda.
  • Tools - a non-space/time technique that uses sealing marks to seal tools such as kunai and shuriken onto scrolls or clothes, which can be called upon instantly by touching the mark.

Other Ninjutsu
  • Blinding Snake Glare Spell - up to two poisonous snakes are summoned and crawl from the user's sleeves to coil around an enemy. This can be used for capture, damage, or breaking down a target's will.
  • Hidden Shadow Snake Hands - snakes are summoned from the wrist or sleeve, used for attack

It's also a safe assumption that he can cook to an extent as he's lived on his own since he was about 7, and is able to do basic first aid (we're talking very basic).

i'm not interested in getting to know any of you, so don't bother introducing yourselves. i don't do pleasantries or small talk, and i'm not interested in your hobbies or whatever you do for fun. all a want to know is whether it's possible to leave, yes or no, and is everyone here just too incompetent to get rid of the whatever it is these people are shushing us over?
